PADI ‘Extended Range’ Air Decompression Technical Diving Course on Utila, Honduras with Tec 50
Why PADI Tec 50?
If you’re interested in technical diving and wish to further your depth limitations beyond recreational diving and the Tec 40/45 courses, you can consider continuing on the Tec 50. If you’re not already a technical diver, then we can combine the Tec 40 + 45 + 50, certifying you as a PADI Tec Deep Diver. This module is the last component of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver course.
What do I need to start?
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization)
PADI Enriched Air Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization)
PADI Tec 40 & 45 certification or we can integrate Tec 40/Tec 45 with Tec 50 as one course
(or qualifying certification from another organization)
Have a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which at least 20 must be enriched air dives, 25 must be deeper than 18 meters/60 feet and at least 20 must be deeper than 30 meters/100 feet
Minimum age: 18 years old
What will I do?
You’ll learn to make gas switch, extended no-decompression dives, using air, enriched air and pure Oxygen, to 50 meters/165 feet. You will practice all the motor skills learned in Tec 40 and Tec 45 whilst swimming ‘on the fly’ and completing surprise emergency drills. You’ll also prepare for and respond to foreseeable technical diving emergencies. Since it’s part of the Tec Deep Diver course, your PADI Tec 40/45 course training credits towards this course and the full PADI Tec Deep Diver course.
How much does it cost?
Course fee $550 per module ($500 per module if Tec 45/50 combined, $1350 for Tec 40/45/50 combined), plus $50 for manual/slate, and $3 per day reef fee, also $15-25 a day equipment rental.
This course is the 3rd and last module of the PADI Tec Deep Diver course. If you already hold the PADI Tec 40 and/or 45 certifications (or equivalent), this course takes just an additional 2 days of diving – or we can offer the PADI Tec 40/45/50 combined courses in 8 days. This course builds on the training, dive planning and technical motor skills learned in the Tec 40 and Tec 45 courses and allows the diver to make gas switch decompression dives to 165ft/50 meters using air and enriched air/O2 (up to 100% oxygen) with technical diving equipment and procedures, become trained in the motor skills needed for technical diving, understand and acknowledge the hazards and risks involved in technical diving, and prepare for and respond to reasonably foreseeable emergencies that may occur in this type of diving. Completing the Tec Deep diver program provides the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for continuing onto the PADI Tec Trimix 65 or full PADI Trimix course.
